There are many advantages to becoming a truck driver that many often overlook.

Exercise and Get Paid

While you may not normally think of it as exercise, but unloading a truck is a great way to keep fit. There are many truck driving jobs that require loading and unloading. Ask questions to prospective trucking companies to see how much loading and unloading you will, or can do. (You may need to let them know that you are actually interested in loading and unloading freight. Most drivers aren’t interested.) If you are hauling “no touch freight,” try and find exercise in other activities or exercise while you are waiting. There may be a lot of waiting. You can always run laps in the parking lot or do pushups if you are unable to load or unload yourself.

Get Paid to Travel America

It is interesting how easy it is to take advantage of what a beautiful and diverse country we live in. We are often very familiar with the small portion of the country that we call home, but there is a lot to see out there. Often we have a certain perception of certain places in the country, because of things we have read or seen on TV or movies, but nothing compares with actually being there and seeing it in person. There in often beauty where you would least expect it. You may travel across a certain state several times, and then go down a different highway or route and then be blown away by its beauty. You begin to realize how educational traveling is. You can study geography or history all day, but nothing compares to being there and seeing it in person.

Get Away from Home, Change Your Life

Often we get caught in the routine of life, making the same choices and sometimes the same mistakes. Getting away from home is often a good way to expand your mind. Leaving your environment can often help you to change some maybe undesirable habits you have desires to change. Some people have never left the town that they grew up in, or their home state or region. What a great way to grow in understanding as you see different people all over the country. Life of a trucker can be a blessing. Get paid to see the country, learn new things and change your life.

Reflect on Your Life

You will have a lot of time to yourself as you travel across the country. You might as well use that quiet time to better yourself. You can listen to CD’s that can teach you life skills and ways to better yourself. You are lucky most people don’t have as much time to sit and think about life, and you are getting paid! You can apply these new techniques to your life and improve yourself.
